Mechanics Liens

A Mechanics Lien, also referred to in different states as a Claim of Lien, Statement of Lien, or simply a Lien, is a claim for payment for services provided by the claimant for the improvement of real property. When properly recorded a lien secures the amount of the claim against the property subjected to the lien. Please note, however, that liens are typically valid for a limited amount of time and will expire and become unenforceable unless legal action is taken to foreclose or enforce the lien. Consult with an experienced construction law attorney in your area to determine the steps you have to take to enforce your claim.
